Easter - been and gone

A week ago I started this layout about my beautiful sister. I wanted to use those big Heidi Swapp blossoms I had but forgot about. The papers and bits sat there for almost a week as Easter and the influx of family visiting came and went until I finally had time to finish it all yesterday.

So what WAS I doing? Well, on Thursday my brother Daz, sister-in-law Cara and my four gorgeous nieces, Katherine, Courtney, Jade and Maddison, bravely set forth on an 8+ hour journey from Sunbury (Vic) to Canberra. We were very excited about their visit, Chris even made sure he came home from his OS trips for the week.

Apart from a messy episode involving one of the girls, a bout of car sickness and an empty Happy Meal box, their trip was good and uneventful. We had a great afternoon and evening catching up and settling in, and ate some delicious Chinese food! On Friday we had a quiet day so they could all recover. Unfortunately, Ronin had a bad cold brewing and he was not a happy chappie most of Easter. Chris and I had some rather hair-raising nights involving temperatures, coughing, musical beds, a very upset and frustrated little boy and a memorable spot of dragging a half-asleep sick baby out from under our bed by his feet! It's downgraded to a snotty, phlegmmy cold now and today he was bouncing off the walls!

On Saturday we all piled into the cars, sans Chris who had a work appointment, and headed off to Questacon, the National Science Museum. It's a great place for kids and they had an absolute ball. I lost any guilt I felt about missing gym visits and eating chocolate after running up, down, back and forth, round and round after crazy little children! It was the parents who needed the nap on the way home! We were lucky to make it actually, seeing as we both nearly launched off the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge after getting discombobulated by inadequate road work signage. Saturday night the boys sat in the home theatre and watched Ice Age with the kids while Cara and I watched "Wedding Date" on DVD in the family room. One of those "OK" movies that just seemed to fall short of the mark, not-so-great acting, unusual casting and inappropriate music. I would only pay weekly rental at the video store for that one!

Sunday began about 6am with shrieking girls munching on chocolate and running about in ridiculous excitement! Sugar crash hit about mid morning signified by a few tiffs and dramas. Ronin crashed on the couch for most of the day, poor cherub, and Cara and I snuck out to the shops to buy me a birthday prezzie (thanks for the slippers guys - I don't think I've taken them off!) and to see a movie. We watched "Failure_to_Launch" with Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. We thought it would be a nice romantic chick flick, plus there was the perve factor in hunky Matthew!, and it was all those things, but it was also HYSTERICAL! We laughed our chockie-filled heads off! I totally recommend it!

On Monday they were all off again leaving here about 6.15am and getting back home about 2.30pm. Geez the house was quiet. I ran around and did all the washing and cleaning, heated up leftovers for lunch, checked out some of the fabulous blogs out there, checked out what had bloomed in the Garden on 2Peas, then sat and watched Collingwood absolutely TROUNCE the Kangaroos - go Pies! What a great day! Then last night I scrapped that page, and it turned out OK. Biggest Loser was back, but unfortunately everything else on TV for the next two weeks is a repeat (bloody school holiday programming!!!) So I expect I will get some scrapping done!

I enjoyed some today, doing a couple of LOs for my DT and finishing off my last Circle Journal (sorry for the delay Deb B!)

Worst thing was my memory stick threw in the towel and I only had a little 16mb spare, so I have only a few photos from this Easter, but hope to get a few from Cara later. AND I have that sore scratchy throat that heralds a cold - I hope it's not tonsolitis again, I had it twice last year! Might have to hook up to an intravenous Garlic, Horseradish & Vitamin C concoction, maybe throw in some Echinacea, a bit of honey and lemon, maybe some chicken soup and some painkillers! I reckon that mixture would kill off anything!

See you soon everyone!
