River Deep & Mountain High

This is the song that Tay was learning at school this week, and I must say it is a pleasant change from the usual school ditties she sings in the car on the way home! And it pretty much sums up the week! Great behaviour until last night when a half-glass of Fanta sent Ronin on a sugar high that had him bouncing off walls and creating manic-driven havoc throughout the house, infecting his sister in the process! It took til 10pm to get them both bedded down and by that stage I was in bed too, having only watched my weekly fix of "Lost" in interrupted bursts and not eating my Lean Cuisine dinner until 9pm! Good lord! It took about 100 pages of my Harliquin Intrigue Romance before I stopped shaking!

There were reprecussions from the late night this morning, a few thoughtless outbursts from Young Miss and a violent aversion to breakfast by Mstr Ratbag (apparently it would make him "sick") followed by a tantrum worthy of the late Howard Hughes over an imagined jam smudge on his palm after it was kissed by Mummy, and further hysteria when it was washed (because - ye gads! - now it was WET!) I was glad, albeit a tad guilty, to leave his shennanigans in the hands of Nanny (who couldn't make a sound without a screech from Ronin of "Nanny SCARED ME!!!!") as I shot off for a bit of a coiff at one of the newly opened hairstylists in town. Naturally, his bad behaviour ceased moments after I left the premises, he even ate all the horrid breakfast *grrrrr*!!!

I lay back and enjoyed the cut and colour, a nice chat and head massage along with the shampoo and condition. However when I got a load of my noggin in a shop window afterwards I was most perturbed to see what appeared to be a topiary ball style plonked on my head with interesting flicks feathered beneath, sort of Mrs Brady of the later series, if you get my drift. I rang and gave the artiste of this disaster a piece of my mind and have a fix-up appointment tomorrow however I fail to see how she can fix it without giving me a buzz-cut, so I could end up looking like I've joined the US Marines Keep your eyes peeled for a great Scrap page using those camoflarge papers I've had in my stash for about 2 years, and possibly a news item about the grisly death of a hairdresser in Canberra!

On the upside, Tay was v. excited to learn she and her friend Indiana are among those chosen to perform a solo in this year's Eisteddfod programs. Tay's is a Jazz program, whilst Indi will perform a Classical Ballet item. She was also excited to learn that Daddy has purchased a cute and simple little mobile phone for her to use to keep in contact with him whilst he is away. This has created some discussion among friends and family however I do stress the fact that the phone is only for this use, and for when she is away from home on holidays or sleepovers, and the rest of the time will be in my possession. It doesn't have a camera or any fancy does-everything-but-change-your-underwear type options either. We're hoping this goes further to improve her happiness and behaviour when Daddy is away.

It's been a quiet week, what with the Commonwealth Games over, and Collingwood yet to play their first game in the opening round of the AFL! It will be a late night, as it is not televised until 10.30pm on Foxtel or 11.00pm on Free-To-Air telly. ACT receives Sydney programming and Fox Footy in it's what-the-heck-were-they-thinking? wisdom have lumped us in with Victoria, so as the game will be live on FTA TV in Melbourne, it won't be on til the aforementioned stupid-o'clock time of 11pm in Sydney/ACT, HOWEVER, although those other lucky souls in NSW get to watch the game on Fox, we don't get it because we're lumped in with Victoria and so I suppose they assume we get it on TV! Does that make ANY sense at all or am I rambling in a Magpie-Supporter-Induced spot of outraged hyteria here? For all of you from NSW or other Who-Cares-or-Knows-Anything-About-Aussie-Rules places, or for those of you sadly unable to enjoy the mindblowing, heartracing, life-changing enjoyment of this amazing sport, just skip this paragraph! If you ARE, though, check out www.afl.com.au for all the latest!

Well, it's been a long time between Blog entries, but I have been busy setting up a Blog for my darlin' Unk and the family & friends footy tipping comp, and arranging to make a scrapbooking DVD, had a tummy bug for a couple of days, and all the other family and housework stuff that fills my life. My DOD (Dear Old Dad) pulled through with his back op, so I gather his spine is well and truly fused and laminated now. He went home from hospital today and will no doubt be mowing the lawn in a couple of days and writing new chapters in the Physiotherapy books with his rapid recovery! I imagine he had quite a social time of it in there, as he was never at his bed when I rang! Gallivanting about the hospital no doubt!

My SIL Delicious Debbie and her intended, Towering Trent, spent the weekend with us last weekend. Sandra got to spend some quality time with her girl and they did some wedding organising stuff. I'm excited to be involved with taking photos on the day, a decision they may regret!, and with Taylor being flower girl. Should be an amazing day! Trent was set upon relentlessly by the Terror Toddler (Ronin for the uninformed!) - he'll make a great Dad one of these days! We watched "Zathura" on Saturday night - a great flick for big and little kids alike, especially those who enjoyed "Jumanji", as this was written by the same author, although this time the game is set in outer-space - need I say more?

Well, I'm off to scrap another page or two before bed. It's a Scrap-Just-For-Me night, and the weekend is full of other projects.

To finish off, I'd like to wish my dear friend Amanda and her fiance the lovely Anthony a wonderful wedding day this weekend. I am devastated I can't be there and my thoughts are with them. My wedding card and gift sit here and I will send it in time for their return from their Thailand honeymoon - I remembered today at the hairdressers when "All My Friends Are Getting Married" by Skyhooks stared blaring out of the radio speakers! When did April sneak up on me? So good luck guys, I know you will have a wonderful life together!

And I'll catch up with the rest of you later!

Wow Tracey you are having an eventful time LOL. I guess fanta will be banned from your house for a very long time?!

Love the LO of Taylor and I guess you may have many more dance LO's to follow now.

Glad to here you were able to have your hair repaired. Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for entertaining me with your blog.
