Photo of the Week 2011 - WEEK 6

WEEK 6:  "First Day of School 2011"

Aaah, that first day back, they are so ready to go, they've been getting irritable and bored and they are missing their friends.  THEY don't think they want to go back to school of course!  And the first day is a bit nerve-wracking.  Who will the teacher be?  Where will their classroom be?  Will any of their friends be in their class?  Taylor has always been a loose cannon on First Days, tears and anger when those teacher/classroom/friends things don't turn out how she would like!  It is always OK in a few days though!  With one in Middle School and one in Infant School I can't attend both assemblies and so I only saw Taylor in passing.  She was excited that her teacher was the same one that subbed for her teacher last year when she was on leave.  Tay really likes her, so the first hurdle crossed.  Only one friend in her class, but a good one, so she was happy with that too.  Plus she has other friends in other classes and electives.  Ronin's teacher seems nice, he likes her.  His best mates aren't in his class, but one is in the class beside his and one in the class opposite.  In the open-plan style they all join together for "morning investigations" (his favourite time of day) so not only does he get to play with them at recess and lunchtime, but also in class!  They both came home from their first days brimming with excitement and really happy.  I on the other hand, sat down in the unaccustomed silence and despite a long to-do list, didn't know what to do with myself!  By pick-up time I was really missing them!  And so, another year begins.......
