While he's away....

When Chris is away our lives go on, the kids grow, do stuff, say funny things, I do things around the house, buy new things. Sometimes he comes home and must feel like he's somewhere different!! So I'm sharing some of the changes around here in the last few days.....

Yesterday, Ronin and I went to Brand Depot and finally bought the shabby chic mirror frame I wanted for the bathroom, I couldn't believe it ws still there! We also got some stars and a little frame for the little room next door to the bathroom *you know*!!

A couple of days ago I went off to Whitewood Warehouse and FINALLY bought poor Ronin a new bedside table, he had been using a plastic stool for the past few weeks!! I finished painting it this afternoon in the same paint as his chest of drawers and toybox and I attached smaller versions of the teddybear drawer handles. He now has extra room for his clothes as I've moved his underwear and swimmers into the new drawers. His things were getting bigger and taking up a lot more room! He thinks it's wonderful and I'm very proud of myself!! Here's a pic, and as he was in a posing mood at bedtime, here's a pic of him with his favourite bedtime toy, Woof. On his bedside table is Woof's girlfriend, Dora, who also sleeps with him now.

And you probably noticed in that photo that the boy finally got a haircut! His hair had gotten so long and he was getting little-boy-sweaty-head so it was past time. I had put it off because our usual kids' hairdressers shut down due to lack of staff (???!!!) so I took him to mine. The barber was terrific and took half the time the other hairdresser had been taken and did a much better job, for cheaper too! So I'll be happily taking him back there!

What else has been going on? Both kids got great reports from their swim school, and both graduate next term. Ronin's little "wee problem" for those who know about it seems to have all but disappeard forever, thank goodness, it was a stressful time for the poor little guy, and us as well! Sandra got her first new dentures in 30 years on Monday and has a fabulous new smile which she showed off today at the Elderly Citz group's Christmas Party. Still in a party mood she's off at the club now!

Congratulations to my talented niece Courtney who won the Dancer of the Year prize at her end-of-year dance spectacular last week! Woohoo, go Courts!

Farewell to Jackie who departs the Scrap Heap Inspiration Team this week. We'll miss you Jackie, you've been a great inspiration and a good friend, and both of those will surely continue!

Thank you to my dear friend Lizette who has been making Tay's costumes for her upcoming dance concert - you're wonderful Lizzie, I'm going to miss you terribly when you move!

This weekend we'll be putting up the tree, turning on the lights, taking the Christmas photos, making sugar cookies and generally getting into the seasonal mood! I'll also be teaching my advent calendar class at Scrap Junkie! Have a look here for photos after the weekend!
