BIRTHDAYS, BALLS & BLESSINGS

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!

This beautiful woman is my darling Mother (Hi Mum!) who turned *mumble mumble* on Friday 5th. She had a lovely day, meeting friends and family for lunch, and going to see "Eight Below" at the movies. Glad you enjoyed the day Mum, Happy Birthday!

DISNEY DOES IT AGAIN!

On their recommendation, I took the kids to see "Eight Below" on Saturday afternoon. I THINK it was good! Ronin watched 5 minutes of it then proceeded to run laps of the cinema. I found it was less annoying to everyone to just let him do it, as long as he was quiet. I lost sight of him towards the end and was looking about when the usher came to tell me that he had run OUT of the theatre and was in Intencity next door! Grrrrr! I promptly retrieved him but will have to watch the movie again on DVD to fill in a few blanks! Great family movie, I recommend it (maybe not for toddlers!) SEE HERE for more info!

BUDDING BECKHAM

On Saturday morning, Taylor played her first game of soccer for the Gungahlin Gazelles U10 girls team. In the ongoing drama of trying to sign her up for soccer we ended up on a waiting list with "not much hope" but by the next day a girl had dropped out and she had a team - unfortunately training is on the same night as dancing and she had missed it for the week anyway! At least half the girls hadn't played before anyway, and Tay plays for fun at school so off to the match we went. She started off on the sidelines and was a bit leery about going on the field, but she had a ball and acquitted herself well, playing most of the first half and starting on the second half. She had a break in the middle and nagged the coach until she could go back on again! The team lost but it was a good show, the 5-1 score didn't represent how well matched the teams were in general play. Tonight she had her first training session, it's definitely a new love!

A DAY IN HISTORY

Of course the most amazing part of the week has been the nailbiting and heartwrenching story of the Miners trapped in the Beaconsfield Gold Mine in Tasmania. Each day we awoke and turned the news straight on to find out the latest. How exciting was it this morning to find that Todd Russell and Brant Webb had been freed. Then those scenes we'll all never forget as they finally emerged, walking on their own two feet, clocking off on their shift, hugging their loved ones so fiercely while the whole town, the world's journalists and other well-wishers cheered and screamed at the mine gates. And around the world we all shed a tear at the amazing strength and mateship of all the miners involved, and all their families, especially that of lost miner Larry Knight.

POOR LITTLE SOPHIE

Another shocking story from the week was the terrible accident involving little Sophie Delezio, who in 2003 was horribly injured when a car crashed into her daycare centre in a Sydney suburb. On Friday night as she was being pushed in her stroller across a pedestrian crossing she was hit by a car. Despite terrible injuries she is expected to recover well. Sophie, our thoughts are wishes are with you and your family. If anyone would like to leave a message for Sophie or her family, you can do so HERE.

Tracey,

You've done a good job to highlight the week. Well done!!! It was a week in the up and down with Sophie and the miners wasn't it. Jenelle

Trace you already know how much I love that LO of your lovely mum, it's an absolute beauty! :-)

We were also immensely relieved when the miners emerged. Our family have been miners for generations and my uncle was killed in the Box Flat mining disaster (leaving 3 small kiddies) so it was particularly emotional for our family.

So glad Tay enjoyed her first game, you'll be doing lots of soccer LOs too now hon! She wears black red and white like Alex, that's so cute!! :-)
