Spring in Canberra

Today, the rain was pouring down.  In Canberra, that's Spring.  The sun shines here all year around (well, not every day of course!).  Autumn is probably the least sunny season.  Winter days are crisp and clear with bright blue skies (after below zero nights and icy mornings!) and then comes Spring.  Beautiful warm days and periods of rain create beautiful gardens, and there is no more beautiful garden in Canberra than Commonwealth Park where the Floriade festival is held each September.  It is Canberra's biggest tourist event and it is FREE!  The kids love to go, to look (and photograph) the magnificent flowers, to go on the ferris wheel and the spinning cups and saucers and to enjoy the other attractions for kids (this year it was a reptile display and sand sculpture).  Our day out in the school holidays was an absolute stunner and we really enjoyed it.  Today, it's rainy and the weather is cooling over the next week.  A day for baking, for popping out for a cuppa with a good friend, for crying while ironing and watching "Secret Millionaire" and for remembering that lovely day at Floriade.

It's been a big week, kids back at school, Taylor back at dancing (YAY!), she also got the spacers in her teeth in preparation for her braces which will be put on next Tuesday, and on the same day she had immunisations (in both arms).

And on a sad note, our little bunny Cupcake was diagnosed with a severe dental and jaw abnormality and tomorrow morning she is off to the vet for the final time.  Goodbye you sweet little thing, we will miss you xxoo

Hopefully if the rain eases over the weekend we can get some planting done, and in the true meaning of spring, life ends, and begins again.

Cheers,

Tracey xx
